Super-Fast Broadband
Superfast broadband is the new generation of broadband a much faster, more reliable and using a different technology than we are all used to today.
Traditional broadband is delivered via copper telephone lines, superfast broadband commonly uses fibre optic cable.
Superfast broadband is, however, relatively new and as such, the exact definition is still evolving. Superfast, fibre optic broadband has the potential to deliver upload and download speeds that are much faster than traditional broadband often exceeding 40Mbs.
For the majority of Cornwall and depending on the project roll out for the exact exchange, fibre connectivity will be available as either
- To the cabinet (The green BT units we often see at the side of the roads) with the final connectivity over traditional copper
- Direct to the business premises
- A mixture of both
Other methods will become available over time for those businesses outside of the initial project roll out.
So what's the benefit of superfast broadband for your business?
- The increased speed of connectivity will allow you to pass greater amounts of data to and from the internet quickly
- It makes cloud computing and IP telephony easier to adopt which reduce business costs and carbon footprint
- Gives you many additional options to enhance remote and mobile working and further reduce costs and carbon
We're keeping a close eye on the roll out of superfast so that we can quickly pass the benefits on to our customers.
