Cisco SmartNet & SmartCare
What are they?
Cisco SmartNet and SmartCare are after sale support packages from Cisco, the worlds leader on network and telephony systems for business.
Both SmartNet and SmartCare packages allow access to phone based technical support with optional hardware replacement.
Varying levels of responce can be purchased to support business continuity and recovery plans.
What will it do for me?
Cisco SmartCare provides a single contract that is administered and supported through the Cisco Partnet Network. The contract covers ANY current Cisco equipment installed at the site.
The price of the contract is based on a weighted model; eg. each item of Cisco equipment carries a weighting. The sum of the weighting and the level of required support determines the cost of the contract. Any new equipment that gets installed on site is automatically added to the contract and covered under the agreement. Each quarter the site is evaluated to recalculate the cost of the contract.

Cisco SmartNet works slightly differently and is better suited to sites with fewer items of Cisco equipment installed. Cisco SmartNet contracts are purchased for each item of cisco networking or telephony equipment.
