Research connects communications expert to new customers
A Cornish IT company will help small businesses to cut their telephone costs using state-of-the-art network technology, thanks to business research and advice from Enterprise Edge.
Voice Over IP (or VOIP) technology allows businesses to make and receive telephone calls through their computer network instead of a separate, conventional switchboard. The single, combined system is simpler and cheaper to maintain, and offers easy access to low-cost telephone calls over the internet, “hot-desking” and even digital video conferencing.
Until recently, such cutting-edge equipment was only affordable by large, enterprise-level companies. However, Chacewater-based Piran Technologies has spent seven months preparing new VOIP packages designed to meet the needs of small businesses, and will now use tailored market research from Enterprise Edge to identify and reach the most suitable potential customers.
Piran’s director, Mark Wright, explains: “We have felt for a couple of years that VOIP technology could really benefit local, small businesses, and new, affordable products from Cisco Systems have finally made that a reality. We’re delighted to be the first company we know of in Cornwall to supply them.”
To market the new packages, the company has enlisted the help of business information specialists from Enterprise Edge; a service of Cornwall Enterprise. Just days after discussing Piran Technologies’ objectives, researcher Rachael Wooding provided a 40-page dossier, full of valuable figures about the region’s business communication needs, as well as contact details of those businesses in Devon and Cornwall who are most likely to benefit from the new systems.
Mark Wright continues: “We knew that this new service has massive potential for local small businesses; and the information from Enterprise Edge has enabled us to really tailor the product to meet their needs – it has shown us who we should approach, and the most appropriate way to go about it.
“We looked at several research companies, and were really impressed with the level of information Enterprise Edge were able to offer, in a very impressive turnaround time, and an extremely competitive price. They’ve really delivered on those promises, and the research pack is proving enormously helpful.”
John Berry, Managing Director of Cornwall Enterprise, added: “As internet connection speeds get faster, VOIP technology is fast becoming the business standard. It’s great that more small, local companies will now be able to use it, and I’m delighted that Enterprise Edge has played a role in that process.”
Enterprise Edge offers market and competitor analysis, plus research on potential clients, companies’ financial status, direct mail lists and more. Businesses can call 0800 052 3942 for advice on using the information available to their advantage.
